For those of you that have never had a website, I’ll show you how to use what is called your CPanel, just the basics, and install WordPress.
Your Web Hosting Plan is your choice, i know as much as anyone on the internet that’s ever had websites, and this is how it is.
Most hosts costs just over $100 a year for a Shared Plan, you share the hosts servers with everyone else that has a shared plan. If there’s too much going on with everyone’s sites you may experience slower loading times or other numerous things. Most work flawlessly all the time so don’t worry about it.
This is for beginners, but they have VPS Plans, you get your own server. No one reading this should have or need a VPS. They’re more expensive and you just have to be knowledgeable of them to use one.
So you get basically the same thing with every host, A CPanel where all your files are stored, it comes with tools, databases are stored there, SEO Tools. I know GoDaddy is different now because they changed it when I was there, but every host has the same CPanel and tools or whatever. You’re just paying more or less with different hosts and the only other difference is their support, technical, sales, whatever. Some of them may have better servers or some downtime, very rare, but honestly how can you know until you use one. I’ve used GoDaddy and Bluehost before my host now, and would strongly not recommend them. GoDaddy big name, it was the worst experience I ever had with a company and their tech support was like incomprehensive.
I use GreenGeeks now and I’m happy with them, I have over 100 WordPress blogs on my account, for my stores, and their tech support is fast and good.
They have a referral program and please do sign up for their shared plan with my referral link. They have the best deal on a shared plan, $140 for 3 years, it’s the cheapest you’ll find anywhere. Others like I said are over $100 for one year. Here’s my link, you can always find it in the Web Hosting tag in the sidebar.
You usually get a free domain with any plan. You get the plan and login to your account, then login to your CPanel. They’re all pretty much the same, things like domains are different on each host, just the area where they all are and the pages are different and work differently.
Here’s what it looks like. Right on top here is the File Manager, this where all your websites are uploaded and stay in their respective folders. there’s other stuff in the File Manager but really you shouldn’t have to go into anything but your public_html folder.
In this article we’ll just be installing WordPress with a One Click Installer, very simple, you won’t have to go into the File Manager. At the bottom of this image you’ll see WordPress, hit that and it will take you through the installation. It’s easy you can figure it out yourself, just where it asks you to name the folder it goes in, in lowercase letters put your domain in there
mywebsite, with no .com
Install it and go to your site. There’s blogs with articles on how to use WordPress but it’s so easy you’ll figure it out. Search for free wordpress themes on google, there’s thousands of them. I will tell you some plugins you should get.
Sign up for Askimet it stops spam in your comments, you’ll need it, it comes with WordPress.
This will stop Spam registration on your blog, you’ll get mail telling you there’s new users but their just bots. Everyday you’ll get them without it.
This plugin focuses on keywords, the title, and description of your blogs. You can choose how the header of everyones browser appears, the text at the top. Other stuff, too much to explain you’ll have to learn about it yourself. But you do need it that’s why it’s made.
The Title and Description you put in this plugin will be what people see while searching and see your site. Just like every site you see when you do a search.

As big and popular as WordPress is, it can be very unstable, you have to take care of it and your files. Alot depends on the hosting plan you have and how good it is, or how much memory you have, Basic Plan, Pro Plan, Premier Plan, or whatever. How many sites you have.
Things can go wrong with plugins, plugins can conflict with each other.
You absolutely need a plugin like this, there’s a couple, I’m suggesting what I use it’s all I know and I find them the best and/or the easist to use. There’s bots on the internet everywhere, they try to ruin your site, corrupt your files, hack your site so it’s just gone. You have to protect your sites with plugins like these, you have to, or someday you’ll be sitting there and your sites are fucked up and you can’t do anything about it.
There’s alot of settings you have to choose from and it will take awhile. They can depend on your host, how their servers work, or any other situation. You may have to ask your hosts support about it. I can’t explain how everything works you’ll have to take the time to learn about everything yourself.
All In One WP Security & Firewall
Just upload them in your dashboard, some plugins you’ll find later have to be uploaded to your server but these are easy. You’ll have to learn how to upload things to your FTP Client and where to put them.
There’s sites for everthing if you don’t understand how to do something, install something, go there and either there’s tutorials or ask on a forum.
If you don’t understand how a plugin works, what the settings are for, each plugin has it’s own support page on WordPress where the plugin creator answers questions.
